Montana 1948 or Thousand Pieces of Gold?!?

I need to pick between these books for English Honors and I can't decide... Which is easier to read and understand/ grasp the main idea??? And which is shorter.. I need to know ASAP because I'm buying it online soon.. Kay. THANKS
