About Metylan gap filler or silicone. (Deco den)?

I'm new in this thing called deco den, and im afraid that the silicone is poisonous or smells bad or something. Can you guys tell me the dangerous things about silicone and also the tip to make deco den stuff with silicone? PLEASE!
