Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card need Themes & Sources?

The basic idea behind the story is that you cannot defeat your enemy unless you understand him, and once you understand him, he is no longer your enemy. That's why they had to trick Ender into thinking it was just a game, because otherwise he wouldn't have been able to commit genocide on a people he had come to understand so well.
