Rubber for molding a pair of boots?

Im going for a paper mache look on a pair of platform boots so I'm making them out of paper mache first and am going to be covering them with layers of liquid rubber/silicon/latex (etc.) and I don't know what kind of rubber I should use to best avoid it sticking to the paper mache, but I also want something that I can apply in thicker coats so I don't have to waist so much time waiting. I considered latex but I don't have the time to put on 20 some layers just to get it to be a relatively durable thickness for me to wear. am I wrong- is latex the best idea or is there something better I should use?
